I tried these pancakes for the first time yesterday, and I really liked them. They are sweeter than traditional pancakes (which is A-okay with me!).
You will need two cups of Amish Friendship Bread batter to make this recipe. This is a great way to use up some of the "starter" batter you end up with after your only three friends start avoiding you and won't return any of your calls because they will scream if they see you with another Ziploc bag of "starter". This hasn't happened to me . . . yet. (Of course, a man's solution to the extra starter batter problem would be to just throw it away. Throw it away? And waste this starter that you have nurturing for ten days!?!? As if!!)
Lisa: I would totally give you a bag of starter if you lived close enough!

Source: Lynnette Pearce
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons oil
2 cups Amish batter
1/2 cup milk (plus/minus 1/4 cup) [I used closer to 1/4 cup of milk.]
1 egg
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Combine wet ingredients in a smaller bowl. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix on medium speed. Spoon batter onto greased griddle.

Curse this long distance!
Sounds super yummy. How, though, would you make your own starter from scratch?
Sounds like a time to google.
Jen's recipe said that only the Amish knew how to make the starter, so you *had* to keep it going (or find a friend who could give you a starter).
For those of us (like myself) who get overwhelmed by that kind of pressure, here's how to start it (from the lady who originally gave me a starter-how kind she was to share!):
Combine 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk.
Put in a Ziploc bag and let sit at room temperature about two weeks until it ferments. May take less time in a warm, humid climate. At this point begin with Day 1 instructions.
You could also begin with Day 10, but you will not have enough to perpetuate additional starters.
*Totally worth doing, even if it's just for the pancakes!
